Our Mission.
At the American Warrior Association, our mission is to address the profound impact of moral injury on military service members, veterans, first responders, and their families.
Guided by faith-based values, we provide healing, leadership development, and innovative programs that empower America’s heroes to find hope, resilience, and purpose.
Our Approach.
Every warrior carries a unique story of service and sacrifice. Our programs are designed to meet them where they are, offering a comfortable setting to heal the invisible wounds of service. By addressing the emotional, spiritual, and mental toll of moral injury, we empower participants to reclaim their strength, restore their relationships, and build a future filled with hope and purpose.
We provide an opportunity for our warriors to confront and heal moral injuries.
Moral injuries have become the unspoken price paid by those protecting our freedoms and liberties at home and abroad. These wounds are often hidden and lead to catastrophic pain and loss of life after the war ends.
Warrior’s Refuge
A Five-Day Retreat for Healing and Renewal
Warrior’s Refuge is a week-long, faith-based retreat held in serene mountain settings across Colorado, California, Georgia, and Texas. Designed for both men and women, this program helps participants confront moral injuries, repair their emotional and spiritual health, and rediscover community. Through a blend of group discussions, outdoor activities, and spiritual guidance, participants leave equipped with tools to build resilience and restore their sense of purpose.
Our Programs.
Healing & Resilience Programs: Our Healing & Resilience Programs offer transformative support through faith-based retreats and practical wellness resources. Initiatives like Warrior’s Refuge, the R3 Program, and peer support groups provide comfortable environments for spiritual, mental, and physical renewal. These programs empower service members, veterans, first responders, and their families to overcome moral injury and embrace a renewed sense of hope.
Advocacy & Awareness Programs: AWA’s Advocacy & Awareness Programs amplify personal stories and mobilize communities nationwide. Through initiatives such as the Moral Injury Awareness Day, Voices of Valor Podcast, and The Journey Unbound YouTube Miniseries, we raise public consciousness and drive collective action. These efforts help build a supportive environment where healing and compassion can flourish.
Leadership Development: Our Leadership Development Programs cultivate resilient, morally driven leaders through scholarships, mentorship, and service-based training. Programs like Scholar Warriors, Urban Explorers, and the Warrior’s Refuge Leadership Academy empower veterans, first responders, and Special Forces to become community changemakers. By developing their skills and character, we ensure a lasting impact that extends well beyond individual healing.
The Virtus Project: The Virtus Project merges faith and science to combat moral injury. By gathering data from every initiative and collaborating with clinical experts, it drives innovative, evidence-based care. This research ensures our solutions remain compassionate, effective, and at the forefront of healing.
